Macadamia nuts (unroasted & unsalted) BIO
Organic macadamia nuts contain the most unsaturated fatty acids of all nut varieties. Unsaturated fatty acids prevent cardiovascular disease by lowering the ‘bad’ LDL cholesterol.
In addition, a handful of macadamia nuts contains more than half the recommended daily amount of manganese; an important mineral for maintaining strong bones. In addition, it contains a lot of other minerals: copper, iron, phosphorus, selenium, potassium, calcium, magnesium and zinc. Furthermore, these nuts contain the most calories of all types of nuts, and they are relatively low in carbohydrates and protein.
This makes these nuts a healthy, filling snack for in between or after exercise.
Nice to know: the macadamia tree originated in Queensland, Australia, where Aboriginal people valued the nut thousands of years ago for its healthy nutritional values. The nut is therefore also better known as “Queensland Nut”.
